In checking out Pottery Barn's information about creating a registry, I began browsing the site.  I found a pretty cool shadowbox, and really like the arrangement shown here:

Save the Dates: Envelope liner ideas

So I have finally nailed down a plan for Save the Dates.  Now I need to find budget friendly envelope liners.  I think it would be really cool to get Avalon maps (think placemat style), and but them into envelope liners.  Here are some pics of what I was thinking.

The new beach wedding invitation isn't one with starfish, seashells or coral. Old-world aspirations and Boardwalk Empire have changed that. A wedding on the water is now symbolized by sailboats, yacht flags, masts, boardwalks and Ferris wheels. These antiquated motifs take the invites back to basics, as do colors like navy blue and gold, as opposed to bright neon hues.

Note the embossed belly band.

I thought they could all rent suits, but that is not as common as I had assumed. 

Beach Ceremony Setup: Chairs, Feet, Aisle, & Dress

Such a sleepy day today.  On the drive in to work this morning I heard a few songs that brought on an emotional moment in which I was filled with excitement to marry Tim.  Leave it to country music to choke you up at 9AM. 

Of course I'd want guests to be warm and cozy.

Sea glass created a border on the custom-made aisle runner. Votives marked the end of each row in place of flowers.

Custom blue-and-white coasters were the perfect addition to the cocktail-party feel of the reception.

Each guest received a glass of champagne decorated with a paper disc that read "Liz and Andy" as they entered the cocktail hour.

"We put something fun and different on each table," says Liz, including short vases with candles and orchids submerged in turquoise water. Rows of flickering turquoise votives completed the look.

A row of candles lit up longer tables while tall vases filled with blue-dyed water and floating tea lights added drama at a bargain price.

A white runner matched the crisp look of the white wooden chairs. The ones on the aisle were adorned with starfish hanging by orange and turquoise ribbon, a nod to the beach location.

Leslie’s mermaid-style gown by Pronovias was covered in Spanish lace and had a feminine yet sexy keyhole back.

Fresh white towels were placed in a rattan basket with a “Refresh Your Toes” sign so that guests could dust the sand off their feet after leaving the beach ceremony.

hese are the top 10 colors for spring released by Pantone this year.  I think it is missing a major color!  Purple and lots of it.  Deep eggplant, brighter plum.  If it's purple, it's in weddings this year.  Honeysuckle, in the top left corner, is the closest thing to purple and it definitely popping out!  The oranges are big in fashion.  I am still partial to the blues and ocean colors the really surged last year.  Such a peaceful palette.

So here's the question for your wedding - what are your colors going to be?  Choosing colors are the easiest and earliest design elements chosen.  The colors affect the attendants dresses, grooms suits or tux pieces, floral design, linens, lighting, table settings, and so on.  The most common question I am asked is should the color reflect the time of year or the location.  My answer is no, does not have to at all.  I do think chocolate, gold and red look best in the fall, but black and white can be very crisp and clean in June!  Choose colors the you love to look at because you'll be looking at them for a long time, well after the wedding in photos and keepsakes.  Also pick colors that represent you as a couple and infuse your personal style into the decor and aesthetic.  This isn't to say you can't have purple and green for a vineyard wedding, but if you hate purple, please don't use it just because there's grapes in the picture.

At a reception, bowls with floating candles, peonies, roses, and ranunculuses "dot" a boldly striped runner. Neutral linens give the eye a place to rest.

Really like the shape and layout

I really like the dimension and layering on this piece:

This is similar to the invite that I had found originally with the navy and white striped ribbon.  The above invite is $7.50 per set, and below is $6.75 per set.
